Toyota Camry

For the past several years, the Camry has come in a number of trim levels including the LE, SE, XSE, XLE, and TRD. Recent years have introduced the SE Nightshade appearance trim that brings special badging, black trim elements, and a spoiler, plus bronze-painted larger wheels. Several trim levels offer unique lines and styling elements, including the SE and XSE, which add some sporty touches, and the TRD, which offers exterior trim elements including black-painted exterior mirrors and a more aerodynamic body shape.

Current models of the Camry offer two powertrains. The base engine is an inline four-cylinder that delivers 203 horsepower mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. For those who want more power under the hood, the XSE pumps up the horsepower of its four-cylinder engine to 206 and delivers a sport-tuned suspension. At the TRD trim level, you kick the whole powertrain up to a V-6 engine that produces 301 horsepower. It's still mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

No matter which trim level or powertrain you choose, the Toyota Camry offers outstanding performance with smooth shifting, controlled body roll, great traction, and athletic, confident steering. The brakes are smooth and powerful, and will confidently bring you to a stop. At the SE, XSE, and TRD trim levels, you also get a special sport-tuned suspension that evens out the ride further, especially at high speeds. The XSE gives you a dual exhaust for extra power, and the TRD gives you a sport-tuned exhaust.

The cabin design of the Camry is well-appointed with plenty of space for front- and back-seat passengers alike, along with easy entry and exit. The driving position is ideal and minimizes blind spots. The technology is top-notch and includes standard smartphone integration for Apple, Android, and Amazon Alexa. An available 9-inch touchscreen is easy to operate and manipulate. The trunk offers 15.1 cubic feet of storage space and a very low liftover height. If you need more space, the back seats offer a 60/40 split fold. Inside the cabin, you have plenty of cubbyholes and storage compartments for small items.

All recent model years of Toyota Camry come with the standard Toyota Safety Sense package of active intelligent safety features and driver aids. These include frontal crash mitigation and warning, plus lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, as well as road sign recognition. At the XLE level, you add adaptive cruise control for full-speed and start/stop capabilities and blind-spot monitoring to give you an extra set of eyes when changing lanes.
